Scotty McCreery is the winner of the tenth season of American Idol. Born in Garner, North Carolina, Scotty began playing the guitar in the fifth grade. The judges were struck by his deep bass voice unusual for his age. At age 17, he is the second youngest Idol winner behind season 6 winner, Jordin Sparks.

Lauren Alaina is the runner-up of this season’s American Idol. From early on, Alaina was a judge favorite. After her audition, Idol judge Steven Tyler stated “We found the one.” Originally from Georgia, she was inspired to sing by her cousin Holly who was diagnosed with a brain tumor.

Season 10 of American Idol brought Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler, and Randy Jackson together as judges. Jimmy Iovine, chairman of Interscope Geffen A&M Records, mentored the finalists each week and lent his expertise, while Ryan Seacrest hosted the show for his tenth season.
