An open question: what is “Sjew” supposed to imply?

Keep hearing those who would typically be associated with social justice warriorism using the term (and pronounciation) Sjew (ess jew), as opposed to the original SJW (ess jay double eww) in phrases like “you hate sjews”.
What is the implication being made here?
I am really hoping it is not a cheap attempt to equate reasonable socio-political differences with the kinds of hatred and distrust for an ethnic group that lay behind horrors such as the holocaust? If that is not the case, I’d like to know what the implication actually is.
