For a new generation of thought leaders, activists, artists and technologists, the idea of “stopping business as usual” is the rallying cry to point out the ways in which race and racism are still prevalent in our society. Equipped with new forms of communication powered by massive advancements in technology, these leaders are creating new pathways to discuss identity and racial equity, while forcing a global conversation about the status quo. Major public moments like Colin Kaepernick sitting for the national anthem or Jesse Williams delivering an impassioned speech at the BET Awards, have spotlighted the urgent need for a global reconciliation on race. In this conversation, we will discuss how dismantling structural systems held up by historical racism, will require an entire new perpective on race, rooted in a belief that the future of identity will be much more complex than it is today.
